Lolita (1997)

Kuulub järjekordselt All Time TOP 5 filmide sekka (tegelikult on neid TOP 5 filme kindlasti rohkem kui 5 tk. aga rõhutamaks, et tegu on siiski paljudest paremaga ei saa ju teda panna kirja 20-da koha omanikuna näiteks:)) Vaadake ja te ei kahetse :). Kes on suhtumisega, et tegu on mingi perverdi filmiga, siis seda see küll ei ole (vähemalt ei teki sellist tunnet... vähemalt minul). This is pure love and desire! The magic of nymphet mõjub filmis muide väga võrgutavalt, niiet don't blame the professor :)

Storyline kah siia:

Humbert Humbert, a British professor coming to the US to teach, rents a room in Charlotte Haze's house, but only after he sees her 14-year-old daughter, Dolores (Lolita), to whom he is immediately attracted. Though he hates the mother, he marries her as this is the only way to be close to the girl, who will prove to be too mature for her age. They start a journey together, trying to hide they're not just (step)father and daughter, throughout the country, being followed by someone whom Humbert first suspects to be from the police. The profound jealousy, and maybe some guilt from the forbidden love, seem slowly to drive the man emotionally labile. Written by Luis Canau

High Fidelity (2000)

Vailedamatult üks minu lemmikfilme, mida olen suutnud läbi vaadata loendamatu arv kordi. Näitlejatöö, sisu, muusika jne on selles filmis lihtsalt niii niii head. Pärast  kui olin filmi  vaadanud oma tuhat korda lugesin ka raamatut ja nii palju kui mäletan siis film on 1:1 by the book. Raamatut lugesin küll inglise keelsena kuna eesti keelne oli parasjagu välja laenutatud (kahjuks inglise keelne lugemine oli natuke liiga raske minu jaoks...)

Who says familiarity breeds contempt? In this film of heart break, betrayal, true friendship, and love, Cusak adapts Hornby's book perfectly, melding self doubt, fear of death, and a search for truth with modern cinema and pop music. Rob, Dick, and Barry are all struggling men in their late twenties (thirties in the book) trying to find a way to identify themselves, and live at peace. Rob has the most conflict as he flounders through one relationship to another, never getting comfortable, and always finding a way to mess it up. It's a brilliant tale of coming to terms with reality, and having a bit of fun along the way. The casting was pheonimal, scenes perfectly picked, and music parallelling that of the mood set in the book. It's just a shame so much had to be cut. I would recommend this movie to anyone with a calloused ear and a desire to finally relate with a character.
